Building Your Ideal Practice: "But I Could Never Speak in Public!"

Are you one of those folks who believe they cannot speak in public?

I hear this all the time from members and mentees in BuildingYourIdealPractice.com. There are many people who not only believe this limitation about themselves, they are committed to it.

It's not so much speaking in public that scares people, it's the thought of having to speak in public and not knowing what to say.

To reframe just a wee bit, speaking is simply talking. So the question becomes:

Do you talk in your sessions?

with one person? with couples? with families? with groups?

Then you can speak in public, because you already do!

Building your practice

In addition to writing articles, public speaking is one of the best ways to market yourself and build your practice. To get a new client from a speaking engagement, it has taken from as long as 7 years (I did not even remember the talk they said they heard me do) to as short as someone coming up right after and asking if I had my appointment book with me.

How to Give a Talk 101

Story - Tell a story from your own life experience or from the life experience of someone you know.

Then make a few points for living or points fitting the group to whom you are speaking.

Now that was not so awful hard was it?
