It's human to worry. We all get nervous about things. We worry about our loved ones. We worry about finances. We worry about our jobs. It's natural, but God calls us to give our worries to Him so that He can handle it for us, and we can focus on doing His will. When we find that we are worrying, we need to stop where we are and ask God to take it from here. This doesn't have to be a mindless prayer, and in fact, it's important to note that just asking Him to take our worry isn't enough. We have to faithfully open our hearts to Him so that He can really do His work. Tell God how you're feeling. Tell Him what your ultimate fear is, and the confess - yes confess - that you know God is in control, and that you can't do anything about the matter by worrying. Confess that you're not able - God is. At that point, whenever you feel worry starting to creep back in, pray again. If you feel worry coming back, it probably means that you need to spend some more time crying out to God. Don't forget to give God the chance to talk back and minister to your heart. You can hear the master's voice. When we are faithful in letting God take our worries, we can rejoice in the knowledge that God is in control. Don't forget to thank Him when He is faithful in answering your prayers. |
