Every woman at one point or another, has the experience of being knocked off her Goddessy feet, only to discover herself descending to the depths of her existence. It can happen at any time, where the floor beneath just gives way, foundations start crumbling and you are falling through the cracks of time. You find yourself scratching at the surfaces of the deep well, lost in the darkness, wondering where you will end up and when it will all end. The descent grabs onto us through our many painful life experiences from disappointments in love, to virulent illnesses that take over our bodies, to depression that kills our spirit, to troubles at home or at work that deplete us, to the sadness and despair of our dreams unfulfilled. It grabs hold of us with the talons of a killer (kill her) instinct and doesn't let go until you surrender to its powerful teachings. This is a fierce challenge and an excruciating part of living; this descent is the fight for the balance of your life.

As a Universal theme, the Goddess's descent is an initiation process, otherwise known as the hero's journey. This journey is inevitable and it is designed to break you down, as it challenges the will and strength of your spirit to bring you back to your divine source of power. It can come into your life, at first, little by little with hints and whispers to the things you need to change, and then the more you ignore these whispers, the more likely you are to be knocked out flat. The Goddess's descent is very scary, it has the possibility of destroying you if you stay in it too long, but it is also where the most profound experience of your life exists. Ultimately, you are descending to the realm of your own great power, to the place that I call "A Woman's Goldmine".

To me, a Woman's Goldmine is her power source, it is the treasure that is unique to every woman and is made up of her pure light. It is her creative spirit, it is her gentle love, it is her inherent beauty and it is her authentic truth. From the Goldmine, a woman discovers her great worth and innate potential to create her life anew. Prosperity, love, joy, friendships, health and emotional wellness are all manifested from this mighty source. Harnessing her power within the Goldmine, allows a woman the ability to go to her depths and reemerge triumphant. Remember, this is the part of every woman that houses her deepest gifts and her most priceless treasures. When a woman is connected to her golden source, she radiates a light so warm and bright, that we are awed by her presence. As the golden elixir circulates through her veins, she feels more vibrant and alive; dancing to the rhythms of her charmed life, plugged into her fertile energy and from this source of wellness she creates all she desires.

Taking the heroine's journey requires a great deal of strength and support, it is crucial to your survival that you acquire the tools necessary to sustain you. There are three basic provisions that I believe are essential for your journey, these must be in place for you to traverse the gates that guard the source of your Goldmine.

Provision #1 - You must have a "YES" for life, your strongest desire must be your willingness to succeed in this endeavor. To say to yourself, "no matter what happens, I am going to emerge triumphant!"

Provision #2 - Bring a flashlight! How else are you going to see in the dark? That light dearest ones, is within your Golden Mind. This is one of your most valuable tools, the ability to clear your mind and shed light on a situation. A Golden Mind is essential to excavating in the Goldmine, it begins to sparkle and shine through your intention to believe in yourself, to believe in your goodness, your beauty, your gifts and your inner value and worth. It is a knowing within you that says "Yes I am good enough, and I trust in myself to create the life I desire". In the dark, always invite your inner wise woman to shine through, because your inner flashlight is just a thought away.

Provision #3: Bring a trusted trail blazer with you. Here is where you want to think about hiring a guide for the journey. Just like many of us hire guides to take us through the jungle, or around a foreign country or through some dangerous territory, sometimes a guide is necessary to support you on your journey, to help you navigate it successfully. Your guide will be there to pull you out of ditches, keep you on the path, hold your hand during rough terrain and acknowledge your courage and successes. Plus a guide usually comes with an extra flashlight, a supply of batteries, a canteen full of water and little treats to nourish you along the journey.

I am a guide to a Woman's Goldmine. I have descended the staircase of the heroine's journey again and again, journeying far and wide. I have stumbled, I have fallen, and I have picked myself up and celebrated my life. Through my various visits to Gold Country, I have emerged with great well of wisdom and knowledge of this terrain. For those of you that are suffering, I invite you to remember that support is available and you don't have to struggle alone. For once you turn your light on; you will see that this is an epic and exciting adventure with many gifts to be treasured along the way.
