Life Extension Technologies and Biblical Argument Against It

Many Biblical Scholars and Devout Christians say that even if mankind figures out a way to extend life, there is no guarantee it will work. They say that you cannot change Gods plan. Recently in a think tank a gentleman on the Biblical side of the argument stated: There is no guarantee that life extension technology will give you a longer life on Earth!

Good points indeed, as one could be run over by a car, get slammed by a Tsunami or die of any of hundreds of common causes, thus the life extension plan will have failed. In a sharp contrast to this line of thought another think tanker stated:

Indeed, you make a good point, as there are no guarantees in life, which is why it is so enjoyable. However, I guarantee that humans figure it out and further guarantee that since self-preservation is such a high need, that people will want it and choose it, given that choice. To a point until that innate characteristic is trumped by intellect for another potential eventuality and choice. Deny it!

This was met by another more harsh comment from the Devout Christian Learned Man and Biblical Scholar. Both an Officer and a Gentleman who said:

You state; God can end it all for you and may very well do so if you think you are going to attempt to defy Him!

The Atheist think tanker was rather amused by such talk and laughed it off stating:

That is truly funny indeed. Well bring it on, I hereby defy. We should not allow anything to control freedom of choice or pursuit of happiness. Living a happier and healthier life must be allowed otherwise we violate the human experience, which should be lived to the fullest.

It seems there is a political impasse of belief systems here in this debate? What say you? Do you personally have any comments or information to add to this think tank conversation? We would sure like to hear them if you do? Think on this in 2006.
