Celebrity Love Affair: Rising New Popularity for the Bulldog

Over the past few years the bulldog's popularity has been rising to epic proportions in the entertainment industry.

From movies to tv shows, to kids cartoons and commercials, the irresistible face of the bulldog has received more and more attention.

Recently, this status symbol of a dog has been seen gracing the sides of celebrities of all genres. With their friendly and lovable nature, yet unique, tough guy look, it's no wonder why.

Here's a quick list of celebrities that are known bulldog lovers:

Celebrity Bulldog Owners

- Louise Redknappe
- The Osbournes
- Gloria Estefan
- Kelly Packard
- Jessica Biel
- Kim Clijsters
- Fred Durst
- Regina Hall
- Sanaa Lathan
- AJ McLean
- Adam Sandler
- Howard Stern
- Johnny Vaughan

The bulldog's historical roots are based in the entertainment industry in that they were entered in a form of arena combat called bull-baiting. Just as it sounds the dogs were used in packs to take down a bull by latching on to it's face.

Thankfully this barbaric sport was outlawed long ago and the breed itself has underwent some breeding changes in the look and temperament.

The bulldog of the 21st century is an extremely family oriented dog. With emphasis on playing, showing off, pleasing their masters and just plain "lazing around", the bulldog continues to amaze those who take the time to notice the intelligence of this breed.

Will the bulldog continue to rise in it's climb to "top-dog" status? All signs point north.
