Stock Broker Training

If you are thinking of brokering stocks in the stock market but you are worried that you do not have a financial background, then you can worry no more. You only need to have are an interest in the stock market and perseverance to learn.

A lot of stockbrokers do not start off as a stockbroker right after college. Many stockbrokers start off in different fields in the industry. Of course, that does not mean that if you do have a background in economics, finances, computers or business management, that you wouldnt have an advantage.

If you are uncertain if you will be successful in this field, do not fear. You need to take a licensure test to make sure that you can succeed in the industry. This license can be acquired only after you pass the General Securities Registered Representative Examination. Even before that, you must be able to join a brokerage firm for at least four months. During these four months, your employers use this time as an on-the-job training to train you on the ins and outs of the industry and to evaluate you on your skills and capabilities. You are also able to evaluate if you are suited for this industry before you commit to take the licensure exam. After acquiring the license, many states also require you to take the Uniform Securities Agents State Law Examination to make sure you are familiar with all the aspects of the stock market.

Even after acquiring the license, you are not considered a full-fledged stockbroker, but just a trainee. Your employers will require you to take classes and training for as long as two years. And even after that, you are be required to undergo occasional training to keep yourself updated in the developments in the field.
